As well as being a full time student, I work three jobs. I am a makeup artist for Smashbox Cosmetics as well as a soon-to-be manager at Ulta in Norman. My third job is at Tinker Air Force Base working for Military Sales and Services Co. I absolutely love all of my jobs. I love makeup because it allows me to show people that they can show their spirit and beauty that they have on the inside, on the outside for the world to see. I also love working with the U.S. Air Force. My whole family has been a part of the military, and I married my husband while he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. Serving those who serve our nation is a huge part of what made me who I am. I think that is enough about me for now. I hope you enjoy the photo of my dog.
Oh, what a cute picture! And there are cats in the background of your blog: I love it! Later in the week there's a whole "Intro" post thing, so you can come back around to this post and add some more to it then. Perfect! Thanks again for getting started early. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, the baby is adorable! I have two non-furry children and have just added a third to my furry children (one dog and two cats). My pup is my favorite out of all of them though LOL. If you haven't figured out what you quite want to do after graduation, I would suggest you look into anthropology. I am an anthropology major and what you are interested in sounds like you would enjoy being an anthropologist :)
ReplyDeleteUlta is my most favorite store in the world! Seriously! I don't wear Smashbox but I have used some of their products before and they are all great.
My family is also very Air Force focused. My grandfather was in the Army during WWII and continued on as a guard at the Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. My grandmother also worked there as an aircraft mechanic until her retirement and my mother worked in the packing department packing airplane parts. We didn't stick around long enough in Georgia for me to get a job there, but if I would have stayed, I have no doubt that's where I would have ended up. And tell everyone in your family thank you for their service!
Aw I love your puppy! And congrats on being married! I'm 21 and just got engaged a few weeks ago! I appreciate your love for language in culture, I have mostly focused on Spanish culture and Ancient Greek and Roman culture during my time at OU. I'm impressed with how much you work and that you're a full time student! I hope you get to go to France soon, I went to France when I was much younger for an international swim competition. It's a truly beautiful country, although I do not know all that much about it.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can tell you love what you do. Three jobs is intense but sounds like you enjoy it. Also, congrats on being married. I see that the person above my comment is also 21 and engaged. Haha, I got engaged in April of this year. I'd love to read more of your posts to see how your traveling has impacted your perspective. Thank your husband for his service. I've never had a dog of my own because of my sisters allergies but I do love dogs. Growing up I've had to love on my best friends dogs.
ReplyDeleteHi, Heather!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your academic focuses! I also studied abroad in Italy (right after my freshman year)! Did you stay in Arezzo? If so, I bet we could bond over Ciao and Cremi! ☺
I love your perspective on makeup. What a beautiful way to inspire others! It is clear that you are passionate about making a difference for others with all of your actions. I truly admire you for that!
Ps. I adore the photo of your dog! ☺
Heather!
ReplyDeleteI knew I recognized your name. Now we have three classes together. I feel like I already know you because we had Professor P's class last semester. I didnt know that you married your husband on base and that he worked for the air force. I think that is amazing. Well I look forward to talking to you more on Tuesday in our Public Health in Africa class with Pro. P.
Wow, I loved your introduction. Your puppy is so cute! I recently got a german shepherd/lab mix puppy so if you have any training tips, send them my way! Congratulations on being married. Also, bravo for handling three jobs and school. I have one job, an internship, and school. That seems tough already. I can’t imagine being married and throwing two more jobs on that. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Ulta is one of my favorite stores in the world.
Heather, your pitbull is adorable! I also loved how you introduced us to the sweet little thing :) It is so interesting how most of your studies have been based on French culture and such! I recently studied abroad in Vichy, France, this past summer and I loved it! I would definitely go back. I probably need to learn more French though before I return so I can speak to the people! You are definitely a very busy person with going to school, having three jobs, and being a wife! I hope you have a wonderful last semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather. I really like the picture of your pitbull, what a cutie. I'm a little envious of your plans to travel to Europe. I don't know any French but I did take four semesters of German and I definitely plant to visit Germany one day. I'm not sure how you handle school and three jobs, that makes for a really busy schedule. I've also had a lot of family serve in the military and appreciate your willingness to help our service members.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather! Your dog is super precious! The way you introduced your pitbull was funny. That's awesome that you're doing international studies as your major. Do you speak any French or Italian? Next summer I'm hoping to visit France and Italy when I travel to Scotland. Any suggestions of must-see-sites? Also, a big thank you to you and your husband for serving and supporting the military.
ReplyDeleteHeather. Isn't Arezzo amazing? I'm so glad that you got a chance to study in Italy this summer. I already want to go back. It must have been extra special and interesting since you are studying Europe. Did you get a chance to go anywhere else inside/outside Italy when you were there? I think Orvieto was my favorite city in Italy. Traveling France is a great decision. You'll have a great time there too.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate.. I am a full time student working one job and I don't think I would want to throw anything else into the mix. I'm also an International Studies major. I'm not minoring in anything, but I have some French family. I studied abroad over there this summer in Cannes and it was amazing. Never got to go to Italy, but I'm sure its amazing as well. Your dog is great too, I'm a huge dog person. We saved out dog form the pound the day before they were going to put it down and I couldn't ask for a better addition to the family. Good luck with your last semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Heather! I thin you puppy is super cute!! They always look so sweet when they're young, I also have one, except he's a 13 year old puppy pitbull!! I think it's also great that you have three jobs!! Having something that you like as a career to pull you through college is something I think everyone tries to find. I also think it's great that you got to spend some time in Italy studying, it's something that I"ve always wanted to do, but so far I've only been to China. Hurray for your last semester!!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of your dog! Seeing all of the introduction posts with pictures of dogs makes me miss my own dogs from back home. I cannot believe that you are a full time student and work three jobs! I barely can handle my coursework, to handle the responsibilities of work and your coursework is incredible. I look forward to reading into your stories to see what spins you can put on classics to widen my perception of the world!
ReplyDeleteHello, Heather!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading you introduction, especially (of course) the picture of your puppy. According to the stuff I've seen posted all over my facebook, today is National Black Dog Day.
I also enjoy studied other cultures; I'm a Russian major, so I also really like learning about other cultures.
You also seem to be really driven and I admire the support you give to our military.
Hey heather and Baily! I could not imagine being married at twenty years old and being in college at the same time. I think its pretty cool getting a job in French and US relations. I have a friend look for a job like that. She's study a lot of languages like french, spanish, and arabic. Three Jobs!!! how do you even have time for anything! Anyways, Good luck.
ReplyDeleteWow Heather, your life is very impressive! I really admire your ability to hold down three jobs, participate as a full-time student, AND already married and doing well for yourself. That is just amazing. I happen to be a huge fan of dogs myself (I have 2 cockerspaniels) and I have always had the biggest soft spot for pitbulls. I found a stray pitbull behind my house once when I was 6 and took her home (kind of not too smart looking back on it) and ever since then I have had a huge love for them. I think it would be really cool to travel to Europe at some point, especially Italy. Unfortunately I haven't even made it outside of the U.S. yet and I don't even have a passport. I'm so glad you're doing well and I hope you enjoy your last semester here at OU!
